Humble Beginnings
In the winter of 1963, Sam and his college buddy, George Anderson, went goose hunting in
the rice fields near Beaumont, Texas. George packed a lunch that included homemade sweet
pickles that he shared and of course Sam fell in love with them. The two friends lost touch with each other after Sam
left Mobil Oil to start his own medical company in Houston; however, Sam never forgot
those sweet pickles because on that cold December day, George not only shared the pickles
with Sam, but also his grandmothers recipe.Perfection at Last
For the next thirty-three years Sam made a hobby out of making sweet pickles for his own
consumption. He continued to tweak the recipe trying to remove the wrinkles from these
delicious sweet pickles and finally arrived at the product know today as "Tea-Licious
Gourmet Sweet Pickles."
The Hill Country Arrival
In 1996, when Vicki opened the tearoom in Burnet,
Texas, Sam got serious about his hobby, obtained a food manufacturer license, and
began making the pickles for Tea-Licious. The pickles are of course served with each meal
on both our Daily Menu and the Satuday Menu.
