The
Tea-Licious Gourmet Sweet Pickle Story:
Humble Beginnings: In the
winter of 1963, Sam and his college buddy George went goose hunting in the rice fields
near Beaumont, Texas. George packed a lunch that included homemade sweet pickles that he
shared and of course Sam fell in love with them. The two friends lost touch with each
other after Sam left Mobil Oil to start his own medical company in Houston. However, Sam
never forgot those sweet pickles because on that cold December day, George not only shared
the pickles, but also his grandmothers recipe.
Perfection at Last: For the
next thirty-three years one of Sams hobbies was making these sweet pickles for
friends and family. He continued to tweak the recipe (trying to remove the wrinkles) until
he finally arrived at the product know today as "Tea-Licious Gourmet Sweet
Pickles. Number One on Google (google gourmet sweet pickles) for 18 years
running
.
The Hill Country Arrival: After Sam and his wife Vicki moved to the Texas Hill Country in
1994, Vicki developed cabin fever and decided to open a Tea Room on the square
in Burnet. Their daughter named it Tea-Licious, the little tea room on Burnets
Historic Square and on February 14, 1996 it was an instant success and over the next
17 years became a Hill Country icon. Recognizing the opportunity to sell his pickles in
Vickis new business, Sam obtained a food manufacturer license and began selling his
pickles exclusively through Tea-Licious for the next seventeen years. The
Tea-Licious Gourmet Sweet Pickles have become famous in the Texas Hill Country
and proudly display the Go Texan stamp of approval. The pickles were of course
served with each meal and to this day are still served even after the tea room was sold in
June of 2013. The new owners renamed the business Texas Tea-Licious, renamed
it again in November of 2015 to Trailblazers Grill, and continue to serve and sell the
pickles to this day.
Focus on the Pickle
Business: Selling the tea room has allowed Sam and Vicki more time to serve their
nationwide customer base and promote their Pickles & Relish as the perfect sweet
gift for friends, family and businesses. Due to customer demand, in 2015 we
developed a new product known as Tea-Licious Gourmet Sweet Relish. We simply dice our
Gourmet Pickles (100% chopped pickles) and call it a relish. See our Pickle Relish ad for
popular uses. If you are looking for a unique affordable gift for your employees, please
call Sam at 512-756-4405 for more information.
